This is the official invitation to all National Chess Federations of ECU to participate.

The Italian Chess Federation, along with the local organizers GM Roberto Mogranzini and IO Andrea Bisaro, invites all senior Ladies and Gentlemen throughout the European Countries to participate in the ECU Senior Individual Chess Championship (50+ 65+), which will be held in Lignano Sabbiadoro, from October 24 (arrival day) till November 3 (departure day) 2024.

 

All players shall have reached the age of 50 and 65 (by December 31st, 2024).

Following the ECU tournament rules, the Championship will be played in four categories: age 50+ and 65+ (Open and Women).

 

Registration will be possible until September 30.

Participation

All players shall have reached the age of 50 and 65 (by December 31st of the year in which the tournament will commence).

By the FIDE and ECU tournament rules, the Championship will be played in four categories: age 50+ and 65+ (Open and Women);

The players placed 1-3 in the previous European Senior Championships shall have the personal right to participate in the European Senior Championships of the corresponding age category or a higher age category if the age stipulation of Art. 2.1 above is met.

All other persons, other than players shall be classified as Accompanying Persons.

To provide appropriate tournament conditions, players must complete carefully the official registration form and submit it to the Organizers by Monday, September 30, 2024.

Registration and travel

Each player (official or additional) must pay the Organizers the amount of 120 € at the moment of their registration by 30 September 2024. This registration fee is compulsory, includes the ECU entry fee, and represents a confirmation of participation, otherwise, registration will be invalid and will not be accepted.

Players and officials will receive accreditation and badges, and during the games players will have access to free refreshments.

Transfers for players, accompanying officials, and additional persons on the official arrival and departure days from Venice International Airport (Marco Polo) will be provided at the cost of 40 € per way. Transfers must be booked by October 10, 2024; after this date, the Organizers can refuse to accept requests.

The deadline for registration is 30 September 2024. After this date, organizers reserve the right to refuse or decline late registrations or, if there is availability, a penalty of 80 € for each late registration will be charged to participants.

Every registration must include the Federation, FIDE ID, surname, first name, accommodation type, dates of arrival/departure, and the passport number of every player and every accompanying person who requires an invitation. Incomplete registrations will not be accepted.

All the travel expenses must be paid by the participants or their Federation.

Payments

Entries must be submitted through the registration forms by 30 September 2024.

When registering (by 30 September 2024), the registration fee of 120 € and a deposit fee of 350 € for the cost of board and lodging shall be paid through the organizer bank account given.

Bank accounts will be individually communicated by email.

Each player will be invoiced by the organizers. Upon payments confirmed, the Organizers will send to the players the confirmation of the hotel bookings. Confirmed registrations will then appear on the official website and ChessResults, where players’ statuses may be checked daily.

All payments must be finalized upon arrival. Players will not be paired until all payments and fees are transferred to the Organizers.
